The basic types of business association can be described as follows:

federal, or all-Russia entities, which comprise of various business sectors and industries, and which may have regional branches (like RAMP, Rossiiskaya assotsiatsiya malogo predprinimatel'stva)

regional organisations, which operate within the subjects of the Russian Federation or at the level of smaller territorial entities, for example, in large cities. Generally, they are open to all business communities, both private and state-owned. As a rule, new private business is mainly represented in these associations by small enterprises. Large private firms tend to be less engaged in these organisations.
